Guess what I stumbled into in this so called World Wide Web. Amazing photos taken in my hometown by an American schoolteacher named Mary Helen Fee back in 1912.
This photo, originally captioned Procession and float in streets of Capiz, in honor of Filipino Patriot and Martyr, Jose Rizal. was taken in what is now Roxas City, back in 1912 of a parade by townsfolk, honoring Jose Rizal. I was surprised to see that we had old stone spanish houses ala Vigan, back in those days. Most of these magnificent old familys' houses have probably been obliterated during the 2nd World War. What a pity. The photo below it was taken by me, of some old stone houses still existing by the river bank from across the Cathedral and City Plaza. The parad in the first photo was possibly taken in front of those houses. But am not sure.
Look at the clothes of the townsfolk back then, white suits and hats, Wow!!!!

This following photo is entitled "A high class provincial family"
My mom and dad and I were wondering what the last name of this family is, we still probably know their descendants in present day Capiz. We most certainly do, but which one?
Check out the finery these people are wearing. Although their features seem a bit more native than present-day Capizenos, no doubt, they look like some of their great grand kids indeed.
