2nd Christmas Away from Home

This will be my second Christmas away from home. The first one was when I was studying in Spain and I spent it in Barcelona back in 2002. This time, I really can't hack going home even if i decided to spend on the outrageous prices because I just assumed my post here last November 6th and I am supposed to fly to Manila in late January for a Meeting.

I thought it will be a bit away from the mad christmas dash for me this time but no. Right now, I'm panicking with Christmas shopping online for my dear ones at home, and also for my newfound family and friends here in Brussels.

So last night after work, we had to rush to Chausee d'Ixelles for some major Christmas shopping for gifts, and I had the chance to use my brand new Belgian ING Bank gold visa. hehehe. I din't bye anything for me because after the holiday's they'll have a great big sale at about 40% off, plus my 21% diplomatic exemption from the VAT that's a whole lotta shopping for me hehehe but soon not now.

I got invited to an all expat yuppie party (kuno), - mostly made up of europeans, brits, germans, etc. - get together tonight at Club Mirano by my young and pretty realtor, Marie of Foncia Immobilie (Real Estate Agency). ( I transacted my 3 year pad rental from them. ) So I'm also going out tonight. My first real clubbing in Brussels since I got here. The pass is your calling card and they decide if they'll let you in hahaha. I guess they won't decline entry to a Commercial Attache? hehehe. Am in black suit and silver tie and with my best watch nyaks.

My posts have been scarce lately because of all this kaguluhan. hehehe.

In case I don't get to post before (which I doubt), Have a Very Merry Christmas and a Spunkin' Brand New Year!

Happy Holidays Mates!

Pasko sa Brussels

Whew, just a day after I got back from a sleepless week in Madrid buzzing like a worker bee, we have Pasko sa Brussels at the Salle Le Fanal for the Filipino Community. A Pinoy Christmas that made us feel a lot closer to home indeed. I'd choose a pinoy Christmas over a white Christmas anytime.

I-i-i-iiit's freeezzinnnggg he-errrre in Brrrrrrussels

Look What we have to put up with. Madrid was a very welcome respite from this kind of cold. While I was enjoying full sunny days over there at 11 to 15 degrees in the evening. Here in Brussels, it's from one to four degreez, below zero. And that's only during the day, at night we get up to minus fourteen for pete's sake. I shot a screengrab of my widgets particularly the one showing the temperatures and the weather. Yikes.

Oh well, we gotta heat it up fast folkies.

Christmas Season in Madrid

Christmas is now in the air in Madrid as they put up the christmas lights and decorations all over the metro. No one beats our penchant for putting up Christmas lights and playing Yule songs in October palang. hahaha.

Here I go again. . .

That's me in the Salon del Catedral in El Pardo Palace, Madrid. hehe

barely even having warmed my arse in cold brussels, I was off to madrid last Sunday. I'm still here after what seemed to be an eternity of all work and no play. It's crazy I sleep at 5am and wake up at 730 or even seven.

anyway, if it's any consolation i have:

1.) actually walked around and stayed for a total of about 12 hours in the Palacio El Pardo in Madrid. (500 years old, approximately)
2.) been chauffer driven in a benz 5 series limo from the hotel to the palace.
2.) hobnobbed with a crowd where King Juan Carlos, Queen Sofia and Isabel Preysler were present.
3.) eaten heavenly cuchinillo.
4.) earned an extra day.

Geeez, I hope the next flying I'll be doing anytime soon is back to Manila.

Sigh the life of a veritable slave. . .
